about me

hi, i'm Fiona. i live in southern rhode island and will for the rest of my life, i love it here! i like taking it slow and marvelling at the world around me. professionally, i am an educator doing outdoor, sailing, and naturalist education, and constatly learning as i go. i believe all children deserve to be heard, respected, and treated as people, and have to opportunity to explore and take risks outside. i love what i do but it is sometimes all consuming. in the past few years i am working on coming back to persuing all my other interests as well and finding balance, and it has been very fulfilling for me! my interests include film photography (of course), interior design and architecture, foraging and eating local and invasive foods, cooking, sewing, very amateur coding, dance, music (guitar and piano), hiking, learning about geography/ sociology/ politics, and wandering around (especially in nature). i love my people but also really love (and need) my time to be alone, think, and process the world. i see this is my place to document and reflect on my delving into these different interests, and hopefully it will expland to accomodate more of them in the future!

i was inspired to create this website after reading a manifesto to return to web 1.5. at the time i had been off social media for a while but longing to participate in the good parts of online culture while avoiding the b(ads)... and i'm very glad to be here! still very amatuer at this but enjoying the challenge, creativity, and individuality of this internet very much.

the color yellow, crisp fall days, the smell of the ocean, fall/winter cooking, decorating cozy spaces, ginkgo trees, japanese food and architecture, small things, beautiful smooth rocks, board game nights, well made and loved objects, and taking walks.
